As true followers of Christ, we have a deep personal relationship with God. Take some time right now to think about the ways you have experienced God’s closeness and faithfulness. This isn’t something we should take for granted. In fact we should talk about this relationship in front of our Muslim friend so they will want to experience it too!

“I will rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness, because You have seen my affliction; You have known the troubles of my soul.” Psalm 31:7

David, the author of Psalm 31, was known to be a man after God’s own heart, meaning he lived his life in a state of trying to know God deeply and seeking an intimate relationship with Him. King David of Israel was not a perfect man by any means, and we see his confession and repentance of his sins in many psalms. He did not have an easy life, but was actually on the run for many years from the previous king, Saul, who was determined to kill David because of a prophecy that David would take Saul’s throne.

    Psalm 31:7

Psalm 31:7 is a snapshot of one of the longest books in the Bible, and it is a beautiful image of the relationship between David and Yahweh.

We notice that David has experienced God’s love and felt His kindness. But this was not only during times when life was going great for David– God was kind to David during his hardest moments. David’s lowest points were seen by God, and God was there with him when he was on the run and hiding in caves.

It is this kind of intimacy that every follower of Christ is offered. It is this kind of close relationship that our Muslim friends lack, and one of the reasons we should all be so passionate in sharing the good news with them.

How can we share Psalm 31:7 with our Muslim friend?

God might be using you specifically to share about Him with your Muslim friend. The joy and love that God gives us is not the kind that we are supposed to keep locked up in our rooms. Allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with boldness to talk to your Muslim friend candidly about your relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

You may want to send them Psalm 31:7 in a text, or paraphrase it to fit their situation.  In both cases, the main ideas of this verse: love, faithfulness in trials, and being known by God, are things that you have experienced firsthand, just like David did. Do not keep these stories a secret!

    Prayer
Dear Lord, please give me a heart to proclaim your goodness the way David did. Give me a spirit of boldness in front of my Muslim friend so I can tell them about the loving relationship You want with them. Open up their heart to receive the truth and see You as their Lord. Amen.
